How do I use hero abilities in Total War Warhammer 2?

Select your hero, then use the icons on the UI. Make sure to check range and cooldown!
I swear by the hotkeys! Check the ability's assigned key, press it, and then click on the target. Keeps my eyes on the battlefield!
