Reprints typically lower the cost of MTG cards because they increase the supply of that card in the market. If a highly sought-after card gets reprinted in a new set, you'll notice the price of the original versions might drop since players can get their hands on the reprint for cheaper. It's basic supply and demand at work! But remember, sometimes the original print of the card holds more value to collectors due to rarity or nostalgic factors.

Reprints can actually cause an initial uptick in price for some MTG cards, especially if the reprint draws attention to an underappreciated gem or if the reprint edition has special features (like fancy artwork or foiling) that make it desirable in its own right. Over time though, the increased availability usually balances things out.

Honestly, it really depends on the card and the context of its reprint. Some older or rarer cards maintain their value or even increase because they become relevant in the meta again due to the reprint. It's not always a straightforward

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
