Warframe slots are basically storage for your Warframes. You can hold a limited number initially, but can buy more with Platinum.
From my experience, you don't want to run out of Warframe slots. Always keep some Platinum handy to buy new slots when needed. Trust me, it's better than the heartache of deciding which Warframe to get rid of.
