If you wanna add someone while you're in the heat of the game, just find them in the ‘Recent Players’ list under the 'Social' tab. If they made a good teammate or you just liked their style, shoot them an invite from there. Player interaction at its finest!
Actually, most times I just meet cool players in the game, ask for their ID, and add them right away. Made a bunch of friends this way. Fallout 76’s community rocks, honestly.
