To change world tiers, you gotta complete all the strongholds available at your current tier. After knocking them out, bam, new tier unlocked! Go to the map, and you'll find the option there.
Complete each stronghold available in your current tier and the game promotes you to the next level automatically. No manual fuss, win-win!
Gotta say, just focus on those strongholds. Clear 'em all in your current tier and you'll get upgraded!
