Settings > Security > Clear Search History. It's as simple as that.
Just navigated my way through this yesterday. Head to your profile, tap the three lines, go to settings, then security, and you'll find 'Clear Search History' there. Boom, history gone!
You can clear your Instagram search history by going to Settings -> Security -> Search History and then tap 'Clear All.'
