How do you defeat the Royal Guards in Undertale?
To defeat the Royal Guards, you need to focus on RG01 first. Clean his armor with your 'Clean' option until he gets hot and starts to sweat. Then, focus on RG02 by 'Whispering' to him until he takes off his armor. After that, you should be able to spare both of them!

Just clean RG01's armor and whisper to RG02. Easy peasy!
You can defeat the Royal Guards in a more peaceful way by cleaning RG01's armor and then whispering to RG02. You don't even need to fight if you do it right!
From personal experience: Clean RG01's armor to make him sweaty, then whisper to RG02 until he removes his helmet. They become vulnerable, and you can spare them!
