How do you do a special trade in Pokemon GO?
First make sure you're Best Friends or Ultra Friends with the person you want to trade with. Then meet up in person, go to the 'Trade' tab, and select the Pokémon you want to trade! Easy peasy.

If you can’t figure this out, maybe Pokémon GO isn’t the game for you.
You need to be within 100 meters of your friend and both of you need enough Stardust. Open the Friend tab, initiate the trade, and confirm the special trade. Done!
From my own experience, it's essential to stockpile enough Stardust. Meet up with your friend in person, navigate to the Friends tab, hit 'Trade,' and select the Pokémon. Make sure it's a special one!
You both need to have the app open, be near each other, and have some extra Stardust. Tap your avatar, go to the Friends tab, and start the trade. Select your special Pokémon, confirm, and voila!
