How do you donate items in Fallout 4?
Oh, wanting to be the Wasteland Santa, huh? Unfortunately, in Fallout 4, you can't directly 'donate' items to random NPCs in the traditional sense like you might in other games. However, you can sort of 'give' items to your companions or settlers in your settlements. Just trade with them and transfer the items you want to 'donate' into their inventory. They'll start using or equipping those items if they're better than what they have. For the true feeling of giving, why not deck out your settlements with all the cool stuff you find and watch your settlers live in style?

Just drop it and hope for the best. Nope, you can't really 'donate' items. If you drop items in the world, NPCs might comment on it but they won't pick things up and use them. If you're looking to offload gear, best bet is to trade with companions or settlers.
Direct donations? Nah. Trading with your pals (AKA companions/settlers)? Yep! That's your go-to move in Fallout 4.
