Just walk back to the statue and press the interaction button (usually Z or Enter). Easy peasy!

You can't actually 'drop' it from your inventory. Go back to the statue where you took it, and you'll automatically return it!

It's not like you can throw it away in the game—return to the statue, and you'll be able to put it back.
