How Do You Get Gears in Fallout 4?
Buying them is also an option if you're not into the whole scavenging lifestyle. Just visit any vendor who sells crafting materials. Daisy in Goodneighbor or the various traders in Diamond City are like the shopping malls for all your gear needs. Just make sure you've got the caps. Crafting without scavenging? That's living the high life in the wasteland.

Honestly, just pick up everything. I used to ignore so much junk thinking it was useless. Now? I'm the person with pockets full of desk fans and typewriters. Because you never know when you'll need another gear. Bethesda really turned us into apocalypse hoarders, didn't they?
Scavenging is overrated. Minutemen quests and settlement building are enough of a time sink without turning the game into a never-ending scavenger hunt. Just use console commands if you're on PC. 'player.additem 0006907b [amount]' and boom, gears galore. It's not 'cheating' if it saves my sanity.
Gears in Fallout 4 are like the bread and butter of crafting and settlement building. The easiest ways? Loot, loot, and more loot. Hit up any and all ruins, especially offices for desk fans, or workshops for adjustable wrenches. Don't forget to scrap junk items in your settlement's workshop that contain gears too. And remember, the Scrapper perk is your BFF here because it lets you salvage uncommon components like gears from standard weapons and armor. Happy scavenging!
