Use a curveball by spinning the Poke Ball before you throw. It increases the chance for a Great Throw.

Honestly, just aim for the middle of the circle and hope for the best.

I've found that practicing on easier Pokemon really helps. Get the muscle memory down before trying on tougher ones.
