From experience, once you’ve taken a Snap, tap the square icon with a plus sign at the bottom to add to 'My Story'. It’s super straightforward!

Easy peasy! Just swipe right to the Camera screen, take a Snap, then tap the 'Send To' button and select 'My Story'. Voilà!
