Personal experience tip: Click on your profile picture, hit 'View Profile Picture', then hit the three dots (…) and change the privacy to 'Only Me'. Did it last month, works like a charm!
Here's the trick: Navigate to your profile, select your profile picture, and choose 'Edit'. Then change the privacy setting to 'Only Me'. Voilà!
