Honestly, those white chests added a nice little mystery at the beginning. Felt super rewarding when I finally unlocked Alohomora and went back to open them all. Hogwarts Legacy does a fantastic job at making exploration feel rewarding.
Just get Alohomora and you're golden. White chests? More like 'welcome chests' once you've got that spell.
