First things first, get yourself a bamboo shoot! You can snag these by visiting a Mystery Island with a Nook Miles Ticket. Sometimes, you'll find islands full of bamboo. Dig up the shoots, which look like little sprouting cracks in the ground near bamboo. After that, head back to your island, pick a spot, and plant the shoot by opening your inventory, selecting the bamboo shoot, and choosing 'Plant 1.' Remember, bamboo grows just like trees, so give it some space to breathe and don't plant it too close to other stuff.
