Click the username in the player list and hit 'Message'. Easy peasy.
To private chat in Roblox, just click on the player's name in the player list, then select 'Message'. You can also type `/w [username] [message]` directly in the chat box!
I just type /whisper [username] [message] and it works perfectly every time. Super simple.
