You can't completely remove it, but you can hide it! On mobile, tap the hamburger menu, then tap 'See More', and uncheck 'Marketplace'.

Delete the app and use Facebook through a web browser with an ad blocker. It's not perfect, but it works.
Sorry, no way to directly remove it, but you can minimize its presence by ignoring it.
