Just accept they're gone. It's Snapchat's thing. Move on.
Unfortunately, Snapchat messages disappear after being viewed, so it's tricky to retrieve them. But if the message was saved in the chat, just scroll up and you'll find it!
You can't really retrieve messages once they're gone. Snapchat's all about that 'poof, it's gone!' magic. Enjoy the moment while it lasts!
As someone who's been there, I suggest saving any important messages by holding down on them in the chat until they turn grey. That's how you keep 'em!
