To save a Facebook Live video, first wait for the live to finish. After it ends, go to the video post on your timeline, click the options menu (three dots), and choose 'Save video' from the dropdown. Done!
Personal experience here: Once the FB Live is over, just find the video, hit the three dots, and click 'Save video'. I've done it tons of times without any issues.
