How do you spot fake Pokémon cards?
PleasingSkip·7 months agoFirst off, check the card's texture. Real Pokémon cards have a distinct, smooth feel and a certain thickness you'll notice right away if you're familiar with them. Fakes often feel flimsy or have a weird, glossy finish. Next, look at the printing quality. Official cards have sharp, clear images and text, while fakes can appear blurry or have color mismatches. The card border should be a consistent deep blue across all genuine cards, so any deviation is a red flag. Also, the font style and size are consistent in real Pokémon cards, so any differences here suggest a fake. Don't forget the holographic effect; it's hard for counterfeiters to replicate accurately. And lastly, check the card's alignment and cutting; misalignments are common in fakes.

Another surefire way to tell is the light test. Hold the card up to a light source. Real Pokémon cards have a layer of black ink inside that prevents light from passing through. If the card lets light shine through easily, it's probably fake. Keep in mind, though, this test might damage delicate cards, so use it as a last resort.
Honestly, just compare the card with one you know is real. Most fakes have something off about them that's easier to spot when you have a genuine card for a side-by-side comparison. If the colors look dull or the card feels too light, it's probably not legit.
