How to Switch Characters in Tales of Arise?
In battle, hit the D-Pad to switch between your controlled characters. To swap out party members, head to the menu and adjust your lineup from there.

Just press left or right on the D-Pad during combat! Outside battle, go to the menu, select 'Party,' then pick who you want to switch.
In combat, tap the D-Pad. Outside, use the menu. Easy peasy!
From my playthrough, it's all about the D-Pad during battles and using the menu outside. Once you get the hang of it, it's super smooth!
