How do you take out Toriel in Undertale?
If you want to spare Toriel, keep choosing 'Spare' in the Act menu even though she'll keep attacking. After several rounds, she'll let you go.

To defeat Toriel, you need to attack her repeatedly during your battles. Her HP will eventually fall to zero. Don't worry, she won't die from this encounter.
Just fight her off. It's faster and gets the job done.
I just kept hitting 'Spare' like a madman until she finally understood! Takes a bit, but it's worth it.
