Took me forever to find this! On desktop, go to the down arrow > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Videos > Auto-Play Videos > Off. On mobile, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media and Contacts > Autoplay > Never Autoplay Videos.
For mobile: Open the Facebook app, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media and Contacts > Autoplay, and then choose 'Never Autoplay Videos.' For desktop: Go to the menu, then Settings & Privacy > Settings > Videos and switch 'Auto-Play Videos' to 'Off.'
On mobile, just head to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media, and turn off 'Autoplay Videos.' It's that simple!
