A MTG PPTQ, or Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier, is basically a tournament that feeds into the higher level of competitive play, the RPTQ (Regional Pro Tour Qualifier). The way it works is you participate in these local tournaments hoping to snag that top spot. Winners of PPTQs earn an invitation to compete in their region's RPTQ, where they get a shot at qualifying for the Pro Tour. Each PPTQ has its own format, which can be anything from Standard to Modern or even Sealed, so you'll want to check the event details ahead of time. It's a great way to test your skills and maybe even start your journey to the Pro Tour!

PPTQs are tough, no joke. Went to my first one thinking I'd crush it with my homebrew deck, and boy, was I in for a surprise. Basically, you gotta win this to get into the RPTQ. So, practice, tune your deck, and maybe, just maybe, you'll make it through. Good luck!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
