How does Gray Merchant of Asphodel Work in Multiplayer MTG?
Gray Merchant of Asphodel, affectionately known in the MTG community as Gary, shines in multiplayer games. When you cast Gary, its ability triggers and each of your opponents loses life equal to the amount of your devotion to black. Your devotion is the number of black mana symbols in the mana costs of permanents you control. Then, you gain life equal to the total life lost by all opponents. The more opponents, the merrier for Gary!

Gary's just overhyped in multiplayer, IMO. Yeah, it gains you a bunch of life, but if your devotion to black isn't high, it's just a glorified paperweight. Effective, but there are better plays.
In multiplayer MTG, Gray Merchant of Asphodel is a total beast. It basically drains life from each of your opponents based on your devotion to black, and then you gain all that lost life. So, picture this: you're playing against 3 friends, you've got a decent amount of black symbols on the board, and boom, Gary comes down. Suddenly, everyone's looking a bit pale, and you're just soaking up the life.
