From my experience, getting the Mystery Box by linking your account to Pokémon HOME and transferring a Pokémon is straightforward. Every time I open it, I get a whole bunch of Meltan, which is fantastic for anyone trying to evolve Melmetal!
First, link your Pokémon GO account to Pokémon HOME. Then, transfer any Pokémon from GO to HOME to receive the Mystery Box. Open it, and Meltan will start appearing around you for one hour. Happy hunting!
