How does Pacifism work in MTG?

Pacifism is a classic enchantment card in Magic The Gathering that you slap onto your opponent's creature to prevent it from attacking or blocking. Think of it like telling that creature to take a chill pill – it can't get into fights, but it can still hang around on the battlefield and use its abilities unless those abilities involve attacking or blocking.

As someone who's been on the receiving end of a Pacifism card more times than I'd like to admit, I can say it's frustratingly effective. It doesn't remove the creature from play, but it might as well have, since all it does is take up space without being able to defend or attack. Still, remember it doesn't stop activated abilities or other ways the creature can influence the game without entering combat.

Just to keep it short and sweet: Pacifism in MTG makes a creature basically useless in combat. It can't attack or block, but watch out – it can still activate its non-combat abilities!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
