Steam makes its dough by taking a cut of the sales from games sold on its platform! Think of it like this: developers get a huge audience for their games, and in return, Steam takes about 30% of the sales price. Plus, they also make bank on things like DLC (downloadable content), in-game transactions, and even hardware like the Steam Deck.

Subscription services and fees for developers to get their games on the platform also add to Steam's treasure chest. Not to forget, those sweet, sweet Steam Summer Sales where we all lose our minds (and money) buying games we'll probably never even install.

Honestly, they just take a slice of every game sale. Simple as that.

Don't forget, Steam's not just selling games. They've got hardware now, like the Steam Deck, and they're dipping into the VR space too. They're making money from more than just game sales.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
