Personally, I think it's a bit too easy, but Thanos taking the Power Stone from Xandar makes sense since they're the keepers of it.
Thanos just walked in and said, 'I'll take that, thanks!' and the Nova Corps had no chance. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Thanos gets the Power Stone by invading Xandar and defeating the Nova Corps. He basically smashed his way in and took it!
