As a lifelong Wolverine fan, I can tell you he has died multiple times, but the most notable is in the 'Death of Wolverine' series where his healing factor is shut down and he suffocates from being covered in liquid adamantium.
He dies from the adamantium poisoning his body slowly in the 'Death of Wolverine' comic series, it's a tragic end for our hero.
