How early should I cast Hydras in MTG?
DealingDada路7 months agoTiming your Hydra plays in MTG really depends on the game situation and what you're up against. Generally, you'd want to cast them when you have enough mana to make them a significant threat, but not so early they can be easily removed. If you're playing ramp, getting them out as soon as you've ramped your mana is ideal. Late game, they can be game winners with enough mana to make them massive.

ASAP! Why wait? Get those big bad Hydras out there and start smashing. The earlier, the better to start putting pressure on your opponent.
It's all about balance. Cast your Hydras too early, and they might get zapped before they can flex their muscles. Too late, and you might have missed your window to turn the tide. Aim for a moment when your opponent is low on resources, or you've got the mana to make your Hydra a real monster.
Wait for it... Patience is key with Hydras. I usually hold off until I can cast them with one or two additional mana available. This way, if my opponent has a response, I'm not completely out of the game. Plus, a bigger Hydra is always more fun!
