You can reduce the Avatar Project timer by completing Guerilla Ops, raiding alien facilities, and using the Resistance Comms station to increase resistance contacts!

Focus on Guerilla Ops missions that specifically mention delaying the Avatar Project. It buys you some precious time!

In my experience, you gotta prioritize destroying alien facilities and completing blacksite missions. Those give you the biggest reductions.
