The One Piece manga is usually a few arcs ahead of the anime. The manga, being the original source material, progresses faster. Specific numbers can change depending on the pace of the anime adaptation, but it's safe to say the manga is ahead by at least a year's worth of episodes. The anime takes its time with story arcs to ensure quality and also adds filler episodes not found in the manga.

Honestly, not as far as some think. The anime does a good job keeping pace with the manga, all things considered. Plus, filler arcs in the anime give the manga more time to pull ahead.

A lot! The manga leads the anime by a considerable margin. Without spoiling anything, if you're waiting on the anime to catch up to the manga's latest twists and turns, you're in for a long wait. Grab the manga if you're impatient; it's worth it!
