How Fast Should a Modern MTG Deck Be?

Well, in the Modern format, speed is pretty key. A competitive Modern deck should be able to consistently threaten or outright win by turns 3 to 4. If your deck takes longer than that to get going, you might find yourself a bit behind the curve. Modern is a fast-paced environment, so building your deck to either establish a dominant board presence or have a win condition ready around turn 3 to 4 is considered ideal.

Honestly, depends on your play style. Yes, most decks aim to be fast, aiming to win around turns 3-4. But there are control or midrange decks that take the game longer and focus on disrupting their opponent's game plan. So, it's not all about speed; strategy and enjoyment are key too.

Turn 3 or bust. Modern's fast, don't bring a slow deck to a speed race.
