In MTG Arena, matchmaking is mainly determined by two factors: your rank and your deck strength. The system tries to match you with players of a similar skill level as indicated by your rank. Deck strength is also considered, especially in non-ranked queues, to ensure that matches feel fair and competitive. So, if you're using a highly optimized deck, expect to face off against similarly powerful decks!

Actually, it's all about your rank. The higher your rank, the tougher your opponents. Deck strength matters more in casual play.

From my experience, it feels like deck strength plays a huge role in casual matches. I鈥檝e switched between high and low-tier decks and noticed a big difference in the types of opponents I get matched with. Always feels fairer than just going by rank alone.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
