On average, each research project takes about 5.5 hours to complete if you've got your staff fully dedicated to research in the bunker. Honestly, the research takes FOREVER. I'd suggest focusing on other in-game money-making methods and buying the unlocks if you're impatient like me. Grinding through all that research without fast-tracking feels like watching paint dry.
It really depends on how you play it. If you're going for the passive approach, buckle up for a long ride. But, if you've got the cash, you can fast-track research for a price per project which significantly cuts down the wait. Did that for a few projects, definitely worth it if you hate waiting.
Research in GTA? Ain't nobody got time for that. Just play the game and have fun, who cares about optimal research times lol.
