12 hours max, I don't get why people say longer. It's a racing game, not an RPG.

Hot Wheels Unleashed will keep you racing for around 12-15 hours if you're zooming through the main campaign. But if you're like me, trying to snag every collectible and master every track, you're looking at more like 20-25 hours of high-speed, loop-de-looping fun.
Just finished it myself, took about 13 hours. But honestly, if you're trying to unlock all the cars and beat every time trial, it'll take way longer. There's a lot to do if you're a completionist.
