The original Pokémon card set, known as the Base Set, was first released in 1996 and included a total of 102 cards. This iconic set paved the way for the Pokémon Trading Card Game and includes some fan favorites like Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur.

Just 102 cards in the original set. Crazy to think how it all started so small and now there are thousands of cards!

Honestly, it feels like there were more, but yeah, 102 is the magic number for the original Pokémon card set. I remember trading these in the schoolyard; never thought they'd be worth so much today!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
