Hey there! The amount of candy you get from trading in Pokemon GO depends on the distance between where the Pokémon were caught. If they're caught more than 100 km apart, you get 3 candies.

You'll get 1 candy for trades below 10 km, 2 candies for trades between 10 km and 100 km, and 3 candies for over 100 km.

I've done a lot of trades, and trust me, you'll want to trade Pokémon caught far apart. More distance means more candies!
