Depends on the fish. Common fish = not much. Rare fish = a lot of bells. Keep an eye out for those rainstorms!
Only the high-tier fish are worth it, IMO. Don't waste your time on the small fry. Look for sharks and the like.
Real talk: fishing in Animal Crossing has its highs and lows. You won't retire early with a pond full of carp, but catching something like a Red Snapper or a Barred Knifejaw? Now, that's where the money's at. Keep fishing and good luck!
