How Much Gold Is on the Gold-Plated Pokemon Cards?

So you're wondering about the bling on those shiny cards? The gold-plated Pokemon cards actually contain a very thin layer of real gold. We're talking about a 23-karat gold plating, but it's super thin. Basically, it's enough to make it look fancy and collectible, but you won't be able to retire on it. It's more about the cool factor and the nostalgia than the actual gold value.

Got one as a gift when I was younger. Can confirm, it's real gold, but it's so thin, you're not looking at much. Still pretty awesome to have in the collection though!

Honestly, not much. Yeah, they're 23-karat gold plated but the layer is thinner than a Pikachu's whisker. Don't plan on funding your trip to the Pokemon World Championships by melting one down, if you catch my drift.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
