How much RAM do you need for a Terraria server?
RavellingMane路8 months agoFor a small Terraria server, aiming for 4 players, you'll be fine with about 2GB of RAM. However, if you're planning to host a server for a larger group, say up to 10 players, you might want to consider bumping that up to 4GB to ensure smooth gameplay. The more players and the larger the world, the more RAM you'll need. So, if you're going big with lots of players and massive builds, 8GB of RAM would be a good target to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Honestly, just throw 8GB at it and forget about lag or any issues. Terraria isn't too demanding, but why take the chance?
If you're hosting a server just for you and a couple of friends, 2-4GB of RAM is more than enough. I've been running a small server on an old laptop with 4GB of RAM, and it's been smooth sailing. But yeah, if you're planning something bigger, aim higher with the RAM.
2GB RAM should be plenty unless you're doing something crazy. Terraria runs fine on lower spec machines.
