Back in the golden age of '99, your standard Pokemon TCG pack would usually set you back about $3.99. Ah, the simpler times, when all you needed was a few bucks and some luck to snag that shiny Charizard.

Nah, you're all looking at this with rose-tinted glasses. It was more than just the price of a pack; it was the start of an addiction. Worth it, though.

Lol $3.99 sounds about right unless you were dealing with that one shop that marked everything up because they knew we couldn't resist. But yeah, $3-$4 was standard.

$3.99? More like a small fortune if you were trying to nab a first edition base set. Prices varied, but a pack could easily be in that $3-$4 range, give or take a buck depending on where you shopped.

Honestly, considering inflation, those packs were a steal. Throwback to when all we cared about was the thrill of the rip and the glint of a holographic.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
