Honestly, you can take your time. Just don't get too close to the Aurora until you’re ready to handle it.
I've been there - trust me, sooner the better! Stay safe out there or risk becoming a glowing snack for the Reapers.
You have to contain the radiation within 24 in-game hours after the Aurora explodes, or you'll start seeing fish glowing... not in a good way.
