To access your ship's cargo in Starfield, just hop into the cockpit and open the inventory menu. Your cargo hold should be right there under the ship section!

All you gotta do is get on your ship, hit the menu button, and check the cargo tab - easy peasy.
From my adventures, I found that using the console on the ship takes you straight to the cargo section. It's a piece of cake!
Why fiddle with buttons? Just board your ship, look around for a cargo access panel, and interact with it. Boom, cargo sorted.
