From my experience, just keep progressing through the main quests and level up your Blades properly. It will happen naturally, and you'll be slicing through enemies in no time!
Finish the main story quests and meet your Blades' affinity conditions. Boom! Master Blade activated. Now go save Alrest!
Not sure why everyone's making such a big deal out of it. Just keep playing. You'll get there eventually.
Just follow the storyline and meet the affinity goals for your Blades. You'll eventually unlock it when ready!
