First, make sure you have your friend's Nintendo Switch Friend Code. Then, go to the 'Friends' tab on your Switch, enter their code, and send the request!
You can use 'SplatNet 2' on the Nintendo Switch Online app to add friends via the app's features.
Adding friends is overrated. Just join random battles and make new friends on the battlefield!
I always exchange Switch Friend Codes with my teammates after matches. Then, I just add them through the 'Friends' tab on the home menu.
