Saw this work: Go through your Neighborhood search tab, find some friendly farms, and send them a request. Always worked for me!

To add friends, tap the friends icon on the bottom right, then hit the 'Add Friends' tab and connect via Facebook or Game Center. Once connected, your friends from those platforms who play Hay Day will automatically appear in your friends list. Happy farming!
