You can add friends in The Sims FreePlay on iOS by connecting your game to Facebook and adding your friends there. Alternatively, use Game Center to add friends and visit their towns!

Just connect to Facebook in the game settings and add your friends. Easy peasy!

I prefer using Game Center for adding friends. Go to 'Game Center' in your device settings, add friends, and then visit their towns in the game. Worked for me!
